Good Job, Mommy!

Today I was rushing around as usual trying to get the kids out the door to Mother's Day Out. It was especially hectic with Jason being out of town and not having an extra set of hands to rely on. Nonetheless, I got everything packed in their bags, they were dressed, and I was somehow ahead of schedule. So on that kind of rare occasion, the toys actually got picked up out of the den floor. Aerin walked back into the newly cleaned den, put her hands on her face and said, "Oh Mommy it looks so beautiful. Good job Mommy. Give me five!" 

It's for you!!!

Last night on our way home from dinner, the kids were playing with some new toys Jack got for his birthday. Aerin had a little play phone that beeps and rings and talks to you. Jack was playing with a mini magna doodle. They actually had learned how to share nicely and every now and then would trade toys. Well, Aerin got tired of the phone and decided now was the time to trade. Jack evidently wasn't quite ready. Aerin says, "Ok, Jack now you have the phone, I have the magna doodle." And she proceeds to toss him the phone while reaching for his toy. Jack reaches down, makes the phone ring, hands it back to Aerin and says, "It's for you!"  She then answers it all excitedly and forgets that she was trying to trade. That Jack is too smart. He knew exactly what he was doing too!

Amen, Mr. Potato Head

Every night I read the kids a Bible story from their children's Bible. At the end of each story there are questions about the story just read. All of the questions are really simple and the answer is usually "God".

Well the other night, we read a story about David thanking God by playing his harp for him. So one of the questions was "How can you thank God?"  So Aerin very seriously says, "Play Mr. Potato Head." And I say, "How else can you thank God?" Aerin, still very serious replies, "Play Mr. Potato Head again."

Oh well, I tried!

How 'bout Rudolph?

Today is the last official birthday celebration for Jack. Since the last post we have been to celebrate at Chuck E Cheese's and Nanna's house.Tonight we cap it all off at Grandma's house. He probably thinks birthdays last forever. I know he has enjoyed it and Aerin has been such a good sport, too. Now on with the latest story.

Wednesday night we went to the Ash Wednesday Service at my Mom's church. She rode with us and had choir practice afterwards so we hung around while she sang. The choir was gathered around the piano with their songbooks pracicing the first hymn for Sunday. So Aerin proceeds to get her own "songbook" and stand next to the choir director. When the finished the first song, Aerin very loudly said, "Okay, now how about Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer." It got a laugh but she was serious. She waited patiently until practice wa over and the choir director broke into a jazzy rendition of Rudolph just for Aerin. Aerin, of course, was very pleased and sang at the top of her lungs the whole time. After the song was over she said, "Okay, now let's go."

First Post

Okay, here it is. An online journal of the kids daily happenings. They have had so many funny stories lately that I thought it might be fun to have a record of some of them. I know one day they will look back on this and shoot me for telling such silly tales for all of the world to read. Oh well, it will be fun while it lasts.

So today is Jack's 2nd birthday. Although today is the actual day, we have been celebrating since Friday. We took the kids to a character breakfast at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort. They had a blast. We had called ahead and put Jack's name on the list for having a birthday so that during their celebration he would get recognized. We had also prearranged a cupcake for Aerin so as to cut down on the whining that would ensue when Jack got his cupcake. So they start the celebration music. Jack is excited. He knows they are doing this all for his birthday and he is just waiting for them to sing to him. The waiter forgets Aerin's cupcake so Jason does damage control and heads off in search for something chocolate with sprinkles. In the meantime, the music stops and Jack is still waiting patiently not touching his cupcake. Finally he just looks down and starts singing to himself "Happy Birthday to Jack, Happy Birthday to Jack...". Poor little guy. All he wanted was for someone to sing Happy Birthday. Simple Pleasures. So Jason gets back (with a chocolate brownie and sprinkles) and we all sang Happy Birthday to Jack. He smiled  and pushed the cupcake out of the way. That's all he wanted. What a cutie.

Since then we have celebrated at Catherine's with Thomas the Tank Engine and hotdogs, at his school Monday with blue frosted Publix mini-cupcakes, and at home today with  Mickey Mouse pancakes, presents and chocolate cake. Of course the celebrating isn't over. The child is definitely loving the birthday thing.
